What's on my book shelf?

I haven't ever told you that I'm actually a huge bookworm since I was very little. I learned how to read at age 4 because my granny was a teacher and ever since my night stand is cluttered with books. Some of you might know that I'm studying English Literature though, which I absolutely love!
I figured that some of you might enjoy reading just as much as I do, therefore I came up with the idea to show you some of my favourite books that made it onto my night stand this year!

PS: My taste in literature is just as weird as my taste in music. It reaches from teen romance novels to Jane Austen to Crime Thrillers. You were warned.

Who would have guessed that four minutes could change everything?
Imagine if she hadn't forgotten the book. Or if there hadn't been traffic on the expressway. Or if she hadn't fumbled the coins for the toll. What if she'd run just that little bit faster and caught the flight she was supposed to be on. Would it have been something else - the weather over the Atlantic or a fault with the plane?
Hadley isn't sure if she believes in destiny or fate but, on what is potentially the worst day of each of their lives, it's the quirks of timing and chance events that mean Hadley meets Oliver...
Set over a 24-hour-period, Hadley and Oliver's story will make you believe that true love finds you when you're least expecting it.

This book doesn't only awaken the hopeless romantic in me, but is also really important to me on a personal level. You might ask yourself: Why is a 200 and something- page book important to her? Well I was first reading this when I was on the plane to the UK and 24 hours after I met my boyfriend. I know- it's super cheesy! This spring I started reading it again and re-discovered how much I love it. It's the perfect book for chilly April mornings spent on the balcony with a cup of steaming hot tea and a fluffy blanket wrapped around you and your pyjamas!

Amy Curry's year sucks. And it's not getting any better. Her mother has decided to move, so somehow Amy has to get their car from California to the East Coast. There's just one problem: since her father's death Amy hasn't been able to get behind the wheel of a car. Enter Roger, the son of a family friend, who turns out to be funny, nice . . . and unexpectedly cute.
But Roger's plans involve a more "scenic" route than just driving from A to B, so suddenly Amy finds herself on the road trip of a lifetime. And, as she grows closer to Roger, Amy starts to realise that sometimes you have to get lost to find your way home. . .

Just as the novel I recommended above, this one is a very light read to turn off your brain for an hour or two. Grab the book, a blanket, a glass of lemonade and a shady place under a tree and you'll dip into the romantic and fun world of Roger and Amy! PS: Cue the awwwwws!

Pride and Prejudice is a novel of manners by Jane Austen, first published in 1813. The story follows the main character, Elizabeth Bennet, as she deals with issues of manners, upbringing, morality, education, and marriage in the society of the landed gentry of the British Regency. Elizabeth is the second of five daughters of a country gentleman living near the fictional town of Meryton in Hertfordshire, near London. Set in England in the early 19th century, Pride and Prejudice tells the story of Mr and Mrs Bennet's five unmarried daughters after the rich and eligible Mr Bingley and his status-conscious friend, Mr Darcy, have moved into their neighbourhood. While Bingley takes an immediate liking to the eldest Bennet daughter, Jane, Darcy has difficulty adapting to local society and repeatedly clashes with the second-eldest Bennet daughter, Elizabeth. Pride and Prejudice retains a fascination for modern readers, continuing near the top of lists of "most loved books." It has become one of the most popular novels in English literature, selling over 20 million copies, and receives considerable attention from literary scholars. Modern interest in the book has resulted in a number of dramatic adaptations and an abundance of novels and stories imitating Austen's memorable characters or themes.

You were probably already looking for Jane Austen- since a book rec from an E-LIT student doesn't just skip the classics! I don't even know how many times I've read this already, whether in school or at home... Even if you're not a fan of 19th century literature, you need to read this book or you're seriously missing out!

Allie's world is falling apart...
She hates her school. Her brother has run away. She's just been arrested. Again. And now her parents are sending her away.
But instead of hating boarding school, Allie is happy. She's making friends. And there's Carter, a brooding loner with whom she feels an instant connection.
Cimmeria Academy is no ordinary school. Her classmates - and maybe some of the teachers - are hiding a secret. And soon it begins to feel like a very dangerous place...

What sounds kind of like a cheap teen novel is actually a really thrilling series of books. I'm currently reading Endgame and LOVING it! Just as the review says, it's the perfect blend of suspense and romance!

What are your favourite books? Feel free to tell me and the other readers in the comments! I'd love to check some new reads out!

Thanks for stopping by,
